Matt Gaetz Breaks From MTG, Is “Not for a National Divorce” Between Red and Blue States

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R‑FL) disagreed with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R‑GA) call for a “national divorce” between red and blue states, but did say the rebel Georgia congresswoman is “helping to inspire a national renewal,” which he believes is the necessary course for the country.
“I do think the federal government should at least have to spend the night on the couch for a while,” Gaetz said on the Fox News Channel’s Ingraham Angle on Wednesday.

Greene faced major pushback on Presidents Day when she tweeted, “We need a national divorce. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrats’ traitorous America Last politics, we are done.” The congresswoman first suggested the idea in 2021.
Just two days later, she defended her comment, saying she wasn’t calling for a civil war but is concerned that’s where the country is headed. “In my life and my world, all of my friends are regular Americans; everyone I talked to is sick and tired of being bullied by the Left and disrespected by the Left,” she said.
